NAS110 - Clicking noise - but no activity?

I'm sorry to add another clicking problem, but I haven't seen this particular problem addressed.

I am hearing drive activity even when no one is accessing the device.  This occurs fairly regularly, I've noticed it at least once a day, at different times, so I suspect it is more than that even.

Any thoughts?

Clicking noise is almost a sure sign of drive failure.

i have the same problem (and looks like many others have had this as well). I just got RMA number and i am returning the drive. fortunately it is still under warranty.

Depending on your Firmware version HDD standby had been disabled on the latest update. To buy some time until you get a new drive you can lay the NAS on it's right side and the clicking should stop, this is what worked for me.

I wish your work-around worked for me! No joy! Seek mechanism clicking then drive stops rotating and then restarts and then seek mechanism goes back to clicking and the drive never comes ready. I wish Seagate would followup on their multiple responses that they would issue an RMA - and then never hear from them again! I wish I had never heard of Seagate and never bought their bl.o.o..dy non-functional drive! Hurray for Cloudstor!
