I have been attempting for several days to view my shares/folders on Global Access.
Everything is set up as described, in the user guide (by Admin & user) and I duly login and receive the message "The service is currently unavailable. Please try again later".
I have attempted to login from several pc's & Macs, both internally and externally, but all to no avail
What am I doing wrong or missing? - having trawled through the user guides and forums, I have been unable to find a solution

Hi SASNick, we're sorry, but we're currently undergoing a switch regarding remote access to the BlackArmor devices. Because of this, the service is mostly unavailable at the moment, but will be available again here shortly. Please bear with us while we transition. Thank you.

Doesn't Seagate consider it would have been good business practice to inform it's users that a service was going to be off-line?
Seagate have been playing with Global Access and new firmware releases for a couple of weeks now. They have been secretive and offered no information to it's customers, leaving them to fend for themselves when they were having difficulties.
Is this really the image you want for your company?

Is there a temporary work-around that we could use to access the device remotely? Is Seagate really saying that there is no remote access to the Balck Armor devices for the indefinable future?

Great service.
Bought a NAS220 but can't log in for days now.
I'm beginning to regret I bought a NAS.
Fix the server please so people can use it.

When I contacted Seagate Support about exact this problem, I got this answer:
"The Global Access server has been over loaded for the past few months, however Seagate is releasing a new firmware within the next weeks to most BlackArmor which will allow you to use Global Access again."
This was on May 24th, 2012. That is just over three weeks! Seems to me to be "within the next weeks"!
Today I contacted them again, asking if they had any further information about the firmware update. They answered:
"I understand you would like more information regarding the new firmware, however at this time neither e-mail or chat support is offered for Black Armor units."
However, I was offered to make a phone call over half the globe! I don't think I will!
Seems it is best to forget the whole idea of Global Access!
I guess Seagate is not trying at all to fix the server or to release an updated firmware or to be of any support to its users. Unfortunately!

As you guessed it bergsman_77, Seagate doesn't care about the customer's support for the POORLY designed products they sell. You can read all over this forum and on the net to find this has been the case for YEARS!!
Global Access was a joke to start with and now it isn't working at all. Seagate has seemed to be able to "Get away with" advertising an item with features that either are not available or do not work. We, faithfully have purchased this product based on the feature sets stated on the box and now we are left with "paper weights" for our trust in Seagate.
What does that say for Seagate? Never again will we trust them or purchase any of their products. We have refused new major items that have Seagate drives in them or any Seagate product, as a matter of fact ... we requested that they be swapped out for another brand. We do not recommend any of their products.
Thanks Seagate

I've got this **bleep**ty machine about two months ago, and still the global access is unavailable... Global access is one of the biggest reasons why I wanted a NAS...
I should have bought a Synology or a WD..
How do those guys at Seagate sell this to their customers? "Well it has some features, but they don't work.., but at least you got some nice blue lights on your NAS.."
Well Seagate. You can go .... yourself with your lousy, **bleep**ty products! One less customer for you! But I think that don't matter to you cause you showed a big disrespect to your customers with unavailable features like that.
im of to the store to buy a proper NAS..
