No connection with BackArmor NAS 220 and Fritzbox 7170

Connected the device with my Fritzbox router. Fritzbox shows the IP transfered via LAN to NAS, but BlackArmor Discovery can not find any Server within my local network.

Any hints or advice?

Re: No connection with BackArmor NAS 220 and Fritzbox 7170

The BlackArmor NAS uses the UPnP discovery protocol called Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP). The "SSDP Discovery Service" must be running on the Windows Computer. For the MAC it uses Bonjour.

The basic logic is: Register multicast address. Search using SSDP sends a UDP search multicast address, port 1900. The device responds directly to the computer sending the search port number and is then setup in the initial search message, no fixed port. The computer then connects directly to the device using TCP.
The NAS be accessible by other normal means on the network without using the Discovery software.
Open a command box and try to ping the NAS.  example: ping 192.168.1.111
If the NAS pings go to Start and Run and type in \\nas ip and click ok.
The root of the NAS should open but it may prompt for a password. Enter in the User Name and Password.
Any Public shares should open and any Private share associated with the User info. you just entered.
You should also be able to open the NAS Manager web page.  Open a browser.
Type in //nas ip and click Go or Enter.

Re: No connection with BackArmor NAS 220 and Fritzbox 7170

And if the nas don't answers ping?

I have mine just out of the box, and have installed all software, nothing.....

My LevelOne has the NAs at 192.168.123.119 but I can't ping it from Win7.

My old NAS a WD MyBook worked very well, so what have I missed?
