I purchased my NAS 220, hooked it up to my router and installed the Discovery software. When the NAS 220 is powered up the disk are reving up and the System Status LED is blinking blue. Following that it is blinking Amber.
It does so regardles of the RJ-45 connection is present or not.
The Discovery software does not find the NAS at all.
I've tried disabeling the firewall of the computer and all things imaginable - am I missing something or is the NAS defect. The User manual states the the LED should be solid amber til indicate a system faliure.

Hello,
When you take a BlackArmor 220 out of the box new, don't connect it to the network, just boot it, the end result after a few minutes should be a blue power light and solid blue Status light. There should not be an amber or blinking amber LED. I suggest that you return it for another one.

@fnola: After I installed Hajos Debian for my NAS 110 and added the data Partition to fstab (to get automounted at boot), after some reboots I had the same behaviour like you, the leds blinked for like 6 minutes, I though the system is broken now, I restarted it multiple times, always same behaviour, reset button didnt help me too.
Then I let it do the blinking for like 1 hour and when I came back it was working again, maybe it was checking file system or creating/checking the raid array.
If you have the 2TB Version (with 2 disk) or even more like 3 or 4 tb,it could take even longer.
Important: While the LED is blinking blue, you should hear the disk making noise a bit (means read and write is done on the disk) like I did.
If it doesnt came back to live after some hours of blinking, you could make use of your warranty, but if you installed another OS or did some othere some software changes I think the warranty would be broken, if you want to get the firmware reinstalled, you would need to open your NAS and get the disk and erase all contents, when it gets inserted again, the default firmware will be installed, there are some tutorials about this here in the forum.

I did not install anything.
the system status led keep blinking, i will wait several hours.
i read about reinstalling the system but this process data destructive.
i need to know before this operation how can save my data ? i did not found any information how to reinstall the system/firmware manually without using the discovery software.
it can not find my NAS 110 due to probably the blinking status.
Thanks anyway
Regards,
Alon.

@fnola:
Ok, if you dont hear little noises coming form the disk while its blinking for some hours, there is a high chance it is not "doing/checking something".
If you open the Device (Check Crapnas.blogspot.com for Tutorial) you will loose your warranty but you could just get the Harddrive out and use your Computers Sata Port or a Sata to USB Adapter to first get your data (Warning:Linux File System is used so you will need Linux) and then clean the drive using the instructions someone posted here in this Thread, so when you would put the drive back in , when its completely cleaned (GUID Partition Table cleaned to, not just "formatted") and inserted again, the NAS will just reinstall the default firmware onto the cleaned disk!
