TAPPIN

Oke so Tappin is the new Global Access for the NAS110, 220 and 440.

The only problem with Tappin is that it only works if two computers are online.

So if you want to look at your files when you are at work or holiday your computer at home must be running or else you cannot get to your files.

Is this correct?

I want to look at my files on the NAS but I don't want to leave my computer on.

Re: TAPPIN

Hi,

you don't have to leave your PC on. The can be registered to tappin itself.

Look at this thread: LINK

Re: TAPPIN

Hi Huelfi.

Can you please tell me how to do this. Can't find how to set it up.
If I look at the tappin site it says you have to leave the homecomputer running.

Gr Mark.

Re: TAPPIN

Hi,

as I've posted in the link:

You have first to log in as Admin and create an account (GlobalAccess-Tab) with email + password and finally enable Global Access and input  input email + password and submit.

You have then to log as a NAS user and and enable Global Access in G.A tab and input email + password defined above and submit

You can now launch app or Website with again email + password defined on first line.

greetings

huelfi

PS: You don't have to install the Tappin-Software on your PC. The software is or access to files on your pc.

Re: TAPPIN

Is anyone else having trouble with the new Seagate/Tappin Global Access?  I upgraded my NAS 220 firmware last week to the newest, without incident.  While going through the settings on the NAS I saw the new Tappin info on the Global Access page and enabled the service.  (Before the new firmware I had Global Access enabled and could occasionally connect through the old Seagate site.)

I attempted to reach the NAS through the new Seagate/Tappin login page to be told that I hadn't enabled the service on my NAS yet.  The NAS was doing some heavy activity for about a day after the upgrade to new firmware, so I thought that might be involved in syncing to Tappin.  I waited.  Now the NAS is quiet but still I cannot access my account through Tappin.  Oddly, if I log in to the old Seagate Global Access site I can see that the NAS is still checking in on a daily basis.

I thought I'd try setting up the admin account using a different username and email address, but I cannot change my administrator Global Access details.  The Global Access settings page on the NAS takes ages to load and when it finally does, it allows me to enter new details and submit.  After I submit, it tells me that the details have successfully been changed, but the old info appears in the now grayed boxes.  (I checked Tappin with the changed info and it won't take it either, still says I haven't enabled the service.)

I thought that maybe un-enabling and re-enabling the Global Access service combined with a reboot would help, but now the NAS says that it cannot stop the Global Access service.  I have rebooted many times since the upgrade and at various points in the attempt to update the info.  No good.

Finally, I cannot create a new account for any other user but the administrator.  NAS  fails to enable the Global Access Service if logged in as a different poweruser with admin privileges.

I am going crazy trying to figure this out.   Anybody have suggestions to get the new Tappin Global Access to work?

Re: TAPPIN

Hi,

Log in the NAS as Admin and activate Tappin and register with email and pw.

Log the admin out from the NAS.

Log in the NAS as normal USER (not admin!) and register Tappin again with email and pw.

Log in at the tappin website with email and pw.

Thats it.

Re: TAPPIN

Hi huelfi,

In my case I (as described above) I cannot enable the service as a user.  When logged in as user I check the box to enable and press submit, I get the processing...message then it returns to the screen saying the service cannot be enabled (I have tried using the admin login/pw and also tried setting up a new account for the user).

I am assuming that you have a working NAS connected to Tappin.  When you go into the NAS settings and click on the ACCESS tab then the Global Access subheading does it take a long time?  Mine takes at least 5 times or longer than clicking into any other settings tab.  Many times it just times out after 5 minutes of waiting for a response from the NAS IP address. And this is before even trying to enable/disable or even enter any info...just to open the page.

Thanks,

Re: TAPPIN

Hi,

I've tested it, and the loading time of the GA-page is higher than other sites in the NAS.

Do you have set share-privileges? Has the user rights on the share?

Re: TAPPIN

I logged in as admin and activated global access and then did the same as user. When I go to the Tappin site and log in I can not access my BA220 and I get this message in settings - The TappIn app on BA-074A93 does not appear to be currently running.

The BA220 is running and I can access it when I am at home from any computer or tablet so I thought I would be able to access my files form the road.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.
