Workgroup PCs losing network connection to Seagate NAS 110

Hi all, I have a Seagate BlackArmor 110 drive acting as a file server on a small workgroup network (5 Windows XP/7 computers). The drive is mapped as a network drive (Z:smileyhappy: with admin rights on all PCs. For some reason all the computers lose the connection to the drive random times and usually gives an error such as this:

The error is titled
"Restoring network connections
\\NAS\Data
Microsoft Windows Network: The locla device name is already in use.
This connection has not been restored"
If I ping it continuosly it is clear the the time=XXX ms is increasing dramatically and the drive starts to timeout... Then goes back to normal.  (see screenshot)
I upgraded the firmware last week and the problem temporarily went away now it is back. Any other suggestions?
