Sorry to say this but this hard drive does beep. I have a 80 gb segate Momentus hoked to a usb external case and it does beep. its not the external case it's the actual hard drive that makes noises. Windows recognizes the hard drive and I can save stuff in it. I believe when the HDD gets hot, or doesn't get enough energy it starts beeping and right away disconects from windows, I gotta unplugged and plug it again in order to keep working with it. It;'s not a problem of physical errors because I reconnect the HDD and retry saving the same files and they work properly, Usually if I move something bigger than 2 Gb (it dependes) it starts beeping.
Hopefully you guys have some hints on how to fix this problem. or at least why this happens

Hello I've also a kind of beeping HDD.
My HDD fell on the Floor while in use in an external enclosure. Since this the HDD is not working anymore, just a beeping sound comesi guess this comes from a motor that is stuck and tries to start to rev up the disk-platters, fails and tries some seconds later again and fails again and everytime there comes a short 'beep'ing sound.
So my question is if there is a possibility maybe to open the HDD and try to fix the 'frozen' electric motor so that there it is possible again for the motor to spin up the disks.Du I have toremovetheplatters first to get to the motor?
My model is a Baracuda 7200.11 with 1000GB.
Thanks in advance

I see, so it's not a speaker beep, it's a sound that sounds like a beep coming from inside the drive ?
Sounds nasty, most sounds like that are metal scraping metal in origin.
