I have purchased a brand new Seagate ST3250310AS recently from a computer parts retail shop. I have put a jumper on the HD to make it compatible with my board (MSI K8MM-V, VIA VT8237 Controller, does not support SATA3.0 operation). Then after 16 days of operation, the HD went off, and would not power up normally, going into an on and off state and cannot be detected. Technicians from the computer parts retail shop blames me for putting on the jumper. Unless Seagate's Installation Assistance for ST3250310AS is wrong (http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=aace27fc60322110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&locale=en-U...), did putting the jumper on affected the HD's operation (by operation: I do not mean the Transfer Rate operation, I mean the other HD operations: power, recognition, etc.). I have checked my power supply unit by inserting another SATA disk 0n it and there seems to be no problem. I also tried installing the new HD on other computer systems.
