what happen with seagate paying to have it recovered? i guess that article was false. i want my data back not rma for an empty hard drive.. what a waste of money get a hard drive that only last for 2 months then you lose all your data.
I need my data and not for 500$
wish it would be reconized stupid bricked drive

1 Bricked drive and 1 drive that I was able to update.... both 1TB 7200.11
I havent seen any documentation on an official Seagate website saying that they would offer free data recovery. Although since they own a data recovery service I dont see why the wouldnt offer it for free to help overcome this debacle...
I dont know the logistics of swapping out just the electronic parts with parts that have updated firmware on them but wouldnt this work?
I have tons of movies on this drive that Id hate to replace... Seagate DO SOMETHING!!!

Has anyone here with this issue been able to talk to tech support and find out what they plan on doing for us? Recover data? Fix the drive and send it back?
This is getting old.

Same situation here, disc isn't being recognized by bios, so i can't upgrade firmware. What happens now with my data ??
Its so frustrating.
Sent several emails to support, opened a ticket but no reply, not even an automathic reply saying they are being flooded and they won't be able to reply any time soon, this lack of info is what i hate the most.
Shame on you seagate.
