I bought this HDD recently and overall i can't complain, however it's annoying because of constant readout which make it quite noisy. So i hoped that new firmware could make it more quiet. But apparently i can't update my bios, i downloaded latest cc4h bios from site, as a .exe package. After update BIOS stays the same. The other weird thing is that i can't read S.M.A.R.T. in HD Tune[Health tab is blank], while other programs have no problems with that, but i like HD Tune because it interpretate those readings using colors and i can see if sth wrong. Your little Drive Detect utillity also says that there are no new updates for my hdd. I have my HDD enabled in AHCI mode. I also wanted to ask, if its ok that my HDD work at UDMA-5 while HD Tune says that it could work on UDMA-6?
Beside those questions, how i can make my HDD less noisy?. It doesn't make a chirping noise, but the usual hdd noise. But it's still annoying. I read that i could disable Windows 7 indexing/search utility because it force HDD to constant file update and work, thus making it noisy. I also uninstalled Intel Rapid Storage Technology but it didn't do much. Maybe if i could somewhat disable head parking it would make less noise? Or disable advanced power management.
Thanks for any help.
