Re: Maxtor Drives not recognised when booting from DiscWizard CD Help!!

I should add I also have a Western Digital Hard Drive. With this connected and using the WD version of DW, the WD bootable disk doesn't pick up the WD disk and stops!!

Maybe DiscWizard cannot communicate with your particular SATA controller???

Try temporarily configuring the BIOS for IDE compatibility or legacy mode. This will make the drives appear as PATA rather than SATA.

Re: Maxtor Drives not recognised when booting from DiscWizard CD Help!!

Thanks for the suggestion but the WD drive is ide and the WD version fails to recognise it.

I think it is the boot disc itself. I get

acronis: insmod: error inserting '/lib/modules/acpiphp.ko': -1 No such device
: No such device
acronis: cannot open module 'st' : no such file or directory

then screen saying no seagate or maxtor (orWD) disc present.

Can you temporarily toggle ACPI support in the BIOS?

My research suggests that acpiphp.ko is an "ACPI Hot Plug PCI Controller Driver".

Re: Maxtor Drives not recognised when booting from DiscWizard CD Help!!

I'll try the bios fzabkar, But if it works I'm a bit dubious at having to rely on "unnatural" setup to recover data!

I've just found out that usb wireless keyboard & mouse aren't supported by Acronis boot discs!!

acpiphp.ko' issue also comes up on screen using Acronis True Image 2010 boot disc but fhis then runs and recognises all my internal drives sata and ide and an external usb 500gig! So it doesn't seem to matter if the linux driver is there.

These issues (and others) seem to be widespread on Acronis products, inc paid for, and seem to me to be pretty basic and readily sorted. Would you recommend an efficient working well supported alternative product?

Re: Maxtor Drives not recognised when booting from DiscWizard CD Help!!

AIUI, Acronis True Image is a popular, well respected product. Another popular cloning program is Norton Ghost.

Your USB wireless keyboard and mouse can sometimes be seen by DOS boot disks if they are configured as legacy devices in your BIOS.
