Unable to clone using disk wizard , windows 7, 1TB segate drive.

Unable to clone new 1TB seagate barracuda  st310005n1a1as-rk drive with the supplied disk wizard version 11 downloaded from the support website.

I am perplexed that I have arrived so far out front of the technology wave that my $400 in new parts to make a new average or so computer for the kid has my new  1TB drive useless as a boot drive.

I have a Gigabyte G41M-es2l motherboard, E6300  Dual core at 2.8ghz, installed windows 7 clean install on an old WD 320GB eta drive.  All that stuff works, connects to internet lan fine, downloads updates fine etc.  Used gigabyte disk to update all windows 7 drivers.  All that works fine.

When i try to install the new SATA drive, the seagate softare won't see the drive.

Windows7 disk manager see's the seagate drive, formats the seagate drive to ntfs, healthy, and I am able to see the drive as drive G and load files to it and see them on the disk manager.

When I load the segate disk wizard, that loads fine, then restarts computer, but when diskwizard is run, an error message pop's up and says "at least one seagate or maxtor product must be installe dto use this softawre, go to Acronis and buy there full version ".

Right....

Any ideas welcome?

Same Drive - same problem. DiscWizard lets you select the source drive but nothing happens on the next screen to select the destination drive. Also have Windows 7.

Re: Unable to clone using disk wizard , windows 7, 1TB segate drive.

Update to my other post. Trying to communicate with Seagate support is not great. I sent them a decription of my problem and their first response back is my problem in a question. I respond to that and nearly 24 hours later, no response. I e-mail again and basically get my question/problem back in  question form. After playing tag for a couple of days and trying their suggestions, I now have two drives that will not boot - the orginal and the new. Have lost a lot of data and had to start over with a clean install. I wil try WD next time.
