I have some ST318453lw scsi internal drives out of unix computers and i would like to put them in a Windows machine. Wondering what type of SCSI controller I need and where I can get one. I live near Seattle WA
You just need a 68-pin Ultra 160 or Ultra 320 controller. You also need a 68-pin SCSI Ultra cable with active terminator.
You can probably find that stuff online more easily than in a computer store, but maybe in a store. I'd call around first to see if they have any of that stuff on hand - most people don't use SCSI.
Also, since these came out of a Unix box, I don't think you can just assume that these will work straight up - alot of the time these OEM drives have specialised firmware that won't allow the drives to work well or at all outside of their original equipment. I hope this is an exception. Good luck.
