I bought the FAE since it said that is for Mac. As soon i attached the drive to my iMac via firewire , the drive was detected, but utilitie files on the drive where for windows only.
I repartitioned the drive via disk utility and i got my new partitions on iMac.
I transfered gigs of pictures and home videos to it without any problem.
Left Mac for about half day...
... and than it started.
All of my partitions dissapeard...
After unlimited of FAE power off/on i got them back, just to dissapear again shortly.
Tried USB conection - same magic dissapearing...
Called Seagate tech support and the tech told me that a software will be out " next week" to solve the 15 minutes sleep timer burned into FAE hardware. He said that they got FAE on sale before getting out the application for Mac.???
Third week later, checking daily on Seagate site - no application to address the FAE issue - firewire on Mack. Or even USB on Mac.
Using FAE as a nice paperweight for now.
Amazing how companies can be arrogant as Seagate." I'm selling you a nice priced external HD with nice capacity and description, triple interface, but we will release the application for it sometime in the future... Untill then use it as a paperweighht or pay for the shipping back to the seller or Seagate for "REPAIR"...
Is there anyone sane to address this question. I read plenty of complaints but ZERO replies from Seagat - except moderator.
Frustrated and cheated.

Similar experience here. My FAE 1.5TB drive worked via firewire for the first few days, and now no longer does. This is the same across multiple machines. While it's operating *mostly* via USB, this leaves me a bit nervous and dismayed. I bought this drive *because* it had a firewire interface.
I came to this board hoping to find a solution, but now I'm just regretting my purchase.

You are the first one actually replying to my post.
Are the Seagate techs deaf or they just don't care???

Did that, but there was no solution from tech support, just empty promisses.
I just posted to the community since there was no help from Seagate and hoping that some of the users experiencing the same problem found the solution.
No bad fillings, just frustrated and dissapointed.
Hope that my experience will help potential Seagate customers.
I understand that there are many products with bad and/or faulty design on the market, but if you get the right answers to your problem from knowledgeable tech support and if the company tries to find the way to positively solve the problem, there is no bad filling, and your loyality to the company gets even stronger.
The way Seagate treated my issue was just not acceptable for me since respecting their reputation and getting their product, the respect i received was just a punch under the belly.
AlanM , keep the great work in Seagate community.
