1TB drive and Belkin Router problem

I have recently purchased the Seagate ST310005FDA2E1-RK 1TB Free Agent | Desk, and also a new Belkin N+ router.

I have manged to access the router and figure out how to get the drive recognized (after about 3 hours). I can make backups via windows backup program, but I can not use the Seagate software, which I would prefer! It doesn't show up in Disk management, but is recignized in My Computer (I have an XP desktop).

Anyone have any ideas?

P.S. When I came home last night, the seagate manager was green, but when I tried to open the program, it just came up as not seeing any external drives.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give!!

Re: 1TB drive and Belkin Router problem

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I connected the drive to the storage port on the router.

Re: 1TB drive and Belkin Router problem

Had the same problem...got lucky figuring it out...

Access your Belkin Router - probably 192.168.2.1

Go down the the bottom to "Firmware update"

Download the file...browse to it on the Belkin screen...update firmware.

After I did that the Seagate 1TB drive showed up under Computer in Windows Explorer.

Good luck!
