have the 500GB freeAgent Goflex too... just has a quite beeping sound.. tried 3x different computer (ie, USB ports) and a short USB cable incase had to due woth a lack of power....
1) plug into USB port... no light just a plusing "beep'ish" sound.
2) 10 seconds later, still beeping, but now the lights come on.
3) additional 10sec, it no longer make a sound and lights are still on.
Seems like such a nice drive, small and protable, 500G... but in less then 10 hours it seems burned. :-(
