Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

Just installed the Manager program on a 64 bit sustem.  Works fine and the back-up is running as I am typing this message.  Thanks no problems :smileyvery-happy:

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

It is not working for me. I have 64-bit Vista on a Dell Inspiron 530S desktop. I got the zip file unzipped into C:\User\Documents\FreeAgentCN-1. I clicked on InstallSeagateManager.exe. Up popped a window called

demo32.exe, which said, "The system cannot find the path specified."

Earlier I tried to unzip the file and could not do it. This was yesterday. Today, I put the zipped file onto a flash drive, moved it to an older computer using Windows XP. I unzipped it there onto the flash drive and sent it to a newly-created C:\seagatetemp folder. Well, I had the same problem. I downloaded the zip file again from the Vista machine. Maybe yesterday's and today's downloads are not the same. This time, it unzippped just fine. Still, I can't find the "path specified."

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

Hi,

With word of this new software I got my FreeAgent Pro back off the shelf where it had gone because of erratic behavior with my Vist64 OS.

The new software (Seagate Manager?) recognizes the FreeAgent drive if I use USB interface but will not recognize it if I use eSATA interface.  I bought the drive originally for the eSATA function, so I'd really like to be able to use it.

Does anyone know if this drive, with the new software,  will work with eSATA ?

Thanks.........

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

What problems will I run into by using the FB Desk or Xtreme ext HD over a wireless network with one compter running XP and another running VISAT Home 64bit?  Will I have to download the updated software to both machines.  The FB  external will be USB connected to the XP machine and shared over the network with the Vista computer.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

I have extracted/ installed the download to be able to synch with Vista. When I open the Manager it says that "No external drives were found."  The Seagate drive is connected and running.  How do I solve this, so that I can run the auto backup?

I unplugged and replugged the drive - and that solved my problem.  Low tech but effective.  Thanks

Moved to a new thread because it's an entirely different question.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

The download does allow you to use the drive from your OS but it does not still recognize the drive from the Seagate Manger software.   The software doesn't even have all the tabs and buttons like the security tab, the settings button, etc.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

Just bought a new 64 bit laptop and a Free Agent Extreme 1TB.  Got the 32 bit error when load the software, even though after the message it seemed ok.  found the 64 bit sw on this site, and downloaded.  Installed fine but the sw will not find the drive even though windows sees it fine.  have tried uninstalling the sw to reinstall the original version, but now i cannot reinstall, as installation program continues by first asking to repair, modify or remove then erroring on valid choice only for an instaleed app, no matter the choice i make.

Now trying Windows built in backup.  Help please.

Thanks,

Joe
