Please try this troubleshooting article about that issue.

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

Alan;

I was hoping to have heard a response to my request (message 28 in this thread). Is there something I can do to fix this?

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

I already checked out that article and also did the uninstall and reinstall and several other things.  I think it has to

 do with the eSata cord being used, after researching other threads and such.  It is a reliable new cord but I see

 other users with this same issue.  We buy the product to use the quicker eSata but that is the reason it doesn't

 recognize the drive.  I have heard that you just have to buy Acronis True Image and work from that.  I got and

installed it and that seems to have done the trick,at least until something fixes the issue.

vista x64 --> W7 x64

I have 2 systems that I want to upgrade to Windows 7, I would like to use a FreeAgent Xtreme to back these up and restore files as needed after the upgrade.

System 1 is a ASUS P6T Deluxe w/ eSATA - running Vista 64bit SP2 - upgrade install to Windows 7 64bit

System 2 is a EVGA 680i w/ USB - running XP 32bit SP2 or SP3 - reload install to Windows 7 32 bit

Is this all compatible?

Yes, but:

1) if you're planning to do an entire system transfer, I would use some other software than Seagate Manager.  But maybe you're just going to transfer data, in which case you should be in good shape.

2) the sync feature will not work in between two different OSs.

Thank you for verifying that this will be compatible. I was just concerned with saving the data, so I will go ahead and order one of these. I'm not sure how the sync feature works yet, but thanks for the heads up on that issue. I've been using Mozy, but it is so slow.......

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

Have downloaded & installed the freeagent software to try and get my Maxtor one touch 4 to work with Vista 64 bit o/s. The Seagate manager opens but when I click on back up or sync an error message states 'make sure your external drive has an NTFS formatted partition' Can anyone please help me to sort this out as I can't get at my files at all. I can't even see an external drive connected to any of the USB ports in 'My computer'

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

I have an older Free Agent Ceedo 80 g drive, I am running Windows XP 64 bit.  I don't see this listed on the download page and am reluctant to just start dowloading without knowing that the download will fix the incompatability.

Anyone know if those downloads will work with this old drive?

thanks,

Gary

"The encryption tool is indeed NOT available on the software that is available for general download, because of the laws of one particular Asian country.
Please contact Tech Support to get a link to the software that does include encryption. Sorry about that, but it wasn't our call.
"

It not the truth! I have written in technical support already 2 letters, but and have not received any links to downloading of this version!
Technical support works very badly! :smileysad:

Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: 64-bit OS compatibility now available for some Seagate manager programs

3dzver,

You wrote two emails, one on 22Feb and one on 23Feb.  The 22Feb was answered yesterday and the other should be answered today.

Please do be patient - sometimes it requires more than a couple of hours to respond to emails.  If that is your idea of technical support "working badly", I'm afraid you will never be satisfied by any company's email support, ever.
