I have what I think is a similar situation. I have an old Dell (40 Gig) and want to clear space by storing pictures
and Itunes on the FreeAgent/Go by moving off the PC and delete them. If I subsequently add new picture and
tunes to the PC folder and copy then to the external drive, will they be appended to the existing files or overwrite them
Thanks for any advice.

I am not sure if this has been answered yet and if it has I am not sure if i understood the answer!
I have just bought a Seagate Freeagent Desk 500 Gb External Hard Drive and everything is working good. I have backed-up what I want too and synched what I wanted too. I now have two folders on my new drive a back-up folder and a synch folder.
Like the other posters I want to free the music from my computers internal hard drive to the new external one and play my music from there.
If I delete it from my main computer will it be deleted from the external hard drive?
If this is the case, is their a way I can alter the settings to keep the files on the external hard drive even when deleted from the main computer.
Thanks in advance, all help is very much appreciated.

Just received my Freeagent Go 500GB. I have the same issue as prentonboy .
I want to free up space on my work laptop and I have alredy synced my files and folders.
Has anyone found any solution on 'Freeagent Go' to not auto delete the files from backup once deleted from the PC.
Let me be clear I don't want to drag and drop and would like to the Sync to that automatically.
I know there's a third party software out there allway sync (http://www.allwaysync.com/) and it's free that does the one way sync but I would really like to use the Seagate service manager to handle this.
Any advise will be appreciated.
