Backup log/status disagreement

Had this problem once before and can't recall how I fixed it.  Seagate Desk 500gb/Win7.  Backup appears to function correctly and the Manager dialog box shows backup successful and I have no problems accessing the drive via Windows Explorer (drive is obviously "accessible").  Also, Drive Management shows drive letter properly assigned and the drive is healthy and "online".  BUT if I mouse-over the Seagate icon in the notification area it shows "Last backup failed" AND the backup log says:

 Backing up to G:   ...

Copied 0 files, 0 bytes.    Total files protected: 19424

Reboot had no effect.

I'm stumped.

Re: Backup log/status disagreement

Please uninstall the Seagate Manager software:

http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=206311&NewLang=en

Download the latest version:

http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=freeagent-downloads&vgnextoid=3723b5b59b7d51...

Then reboot your computer.

Then install the new version and try again.

Or you can use other backup strategies. http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=190751
