Backup software advice please.

I've just had this machine made to run MS Flight Sim. 2004 = AWD-IT GPC36 E8600 Overclocked Intel E8600 Core 2 Duo @ 4.0Ghz 6MB Cache 1333FSB CPU / Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 Crossfire DDR2 Motherboard / ATI 4870 512Mb / OCZ 4GB DDR2 PC8500 1066Mhz Memory / 500Gb SATA Hard Drive / 22x DVD-RW/Vista 64bit.
I've just bought a Seagate 1TB external drive & tried Acronis True Image Home 2009 but all I can see is a TIB file after backing up for the first time.  I can't open this file & Acronis don't answer my emails.  Is there a different programme I could use for backups?  Any help gratefully received!  Thanks.

Re: Backup software advice please.

I don't care for "image" backup programs like Acronis because they can fail and you'll never know until you try to mount the backup and restore things. Such programs create a single giant "image file" which itself is risky in that if anything goes wrong anywhere in the file chances are anything beyond the point of corruption is toast.

I use BounceBack. It's fast, cheap and easy to customize. Rather than making an image file it does actual backups of indvidual files you wish to backup. It can be set to run automatically,or do it on your schedule. In fact, years ago Seagate included this with their external drives. I have above 500,000 image files and several thousands videos spanning about 6 TB on multiple hard drives. All backed up this way.

Right - thanks for that info.  I'll give BounceBack a whir.l
