Can see Seagate drive, looks like partition is gone?

Hi - I am trying to help a friend with her Seagate Free Agent Desktop external hard drive.  Its a convoluted story....

She had problems with spyware, viruses.  Some kid from her neighborhood came over to "fix" her spyware/virus issues by removing Windows XP and installing Linux instead.  Now she was unable to use most of her apps.  Then her dad reinstalls Windows XP.  At this point her laptop does not detect the Seagate drive....and was still riddled with spyware/viruses...(which I fixed with Mcafee and spybot, et. all)....

I took the drive home and was able to get my laptop Windows XP to detect the drive, but it appears there is no partition on it.  The Seagate manager keeps asking me if I want to create a partition, I keep cancelling because all of my friends pics, etc. are supposed to be on it and creating a new partition would reformat the drive.

I have a sneaky suspcison someone accidentally reformatted the drive?  Or somehow this ridiculous Linux and Windows installations somehow caused the data to be corrupt on the drive?

I was thinking about trying to reformat the drive and using Undelete-plus to see if I can retrieve anything....

Any suggestions?
