I currently have my FreeAgent Desk set up as a backup hard drive, but I was wondering how I'd change it from backup, to extra storage.
Do I just have to open up My Computer, right click on the hard drive, click 'Format...' and then press 'Start'
I thought I'd make sure I know what I'm doing before I start messing with the settings.

No no, you don't have to do anything special, and "Format" will erase the drive.
Just go into My Computer, into the drive, and create new folders to organise the data.
Then drag and drop stuff into the drive. See here for more information.
