Drive freezes when Firewire 400 used

I'm running on a pre-2008 Macbook. I recently bought a Free Agent Go for Mac 500gb.

I copied all my music to the external, and am using iTunes to play it from there. I followed the instructions on how to make iTunes recognize where my files are, etc(this has been double-checked). However, when I go to play the songs using the Firewire 400 cable, iTunes freezes after 4 or so songs. Then I go and check the drive and it's now frozen. Using the same Firewire cable, I can successfully read, write, and use Time Machine.

Using the USB 2.0 cables, iTunes doesn't have a problem, nor does anything else. However, this uses up both my USB ports. I bought this drive so I could use Firewire, not USB

Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Drive freezes when Firewire 400 used

Like to help, but my drive isn't recognized on either...My suggestion would be to get a usb hub with four or

six more ports - hook up anything you want...still not firewire, but at least your connected...
