External hard drive not working.

I have a FreeAgent Desktop external hard drive. I have used it in the past but now when i plug it into my computer it does not turn on nor does my computer read it as "plugged in". Im using windos vista home. i cant tell you what my product id is because i never got around to getting it and obviously now i cant.

 

How can i get my hard drive to work? Is there a way to get it to read?

This is a major problem with this product and I've spotted complaints and threads all over the web about it, including here. Maybe we should all get together and have a peaceful march to Seagate's HQ with our non-functioning drives. First I need to figure out how to get my precious photos off of it before I dump it on their front lawn!

i know what you mean i lost 50 gigs of databut whats funnier is a firend of mine got the same one at the same time but his still works.

i thought about it and i think its the power source in the drive but i cant get to the wiring so i cant fix it this is why ive posted here...
