Re: Folders Not Appearing in Program's Selection List

Thanks for that info on the OneTouch download.  I find it rather shocking, actually, that the software that ships with the drive has such a limitation.  I can understand it filtering out other folders by default, but not it totally excluding any possibility of backing them up.  I assure everyone that I had no qualms whatever about removing Drive Manager from my computer.  I will give OneTouch a go on the basis of tech support's recommendedation, though I suspect that many other programs, such as others discussed on this thread, would also do an admirable job.

Re: Folders Not Appearing in Program's Selection List

This is ridiculous.  I have just spent hours with the same problem.  I have files outside of "My Documents"

that it won't let me select for backup.  I can select files from windows explorer and copy them directly, but tha

prevents me from using the "Backup Now" option and just backup the files I want backed up.

Seagate needs to fix this.  Why on earth would they take it upon themselves to apply filters.  Users of their

products need to be able to select whatever files they wish for backup.  This limitation really, really, really

surprises me from a quality company like Seagate.

I'll try the other option some of you suggested.  And thanks for posting it.

Did you try updating your software as I had outlined earlier? Before the update I could only choose "certain" folders, but after the update I can choose anything.

Re: Folders Not Appearing in Program's Selection List

mlweiland, I actually installed the software (Maxtor) late last night.  And it works beautifully!  Thanks for the info.  It even

provides a top level selection for 'My Favorites' used by Internet Explorer as well.  I had also wanted to select

the .pst files that Outlook uses to store emails and other content.  The original software wouldn't let me select

these files.  The new software lets me select anything.

Thanks again.
