Format, 500GB, FreeAgent - Simple Q'-

I Just got a 500GB FreeAgent Desk HDD (Exteral)

I just wanted to ask and make sure that it is ok to Format the Entire Drive, Removing The Manager and all files Currently on it. I wish to use my Own Manager so that i can Partition it and what Not. Is there any reason the Device would not work?

Windows 7 (all Drivers working)

500GB FreeAgent Desk HDD

Thank you

That's perfectly OK. Without Seagate Manager software, FreeAgent drives will behave just like ordinary external mass storage devices. In fact you will need to reformat the drive if you wish to share files with a foreign machine, eg Mac.

Re: Format, 500GB, FreeAgent - Simple Q'-

hi guys, i know this is an old thread but i have a related question.  if i format my freeagent but i save the setup, icon, autorun files somewhere and after the format copy it back into the drive, will it behave like it did when i first got it?

i basically want to start over with it like when it came out of the box and be able to control the lights/adjust power settings and stuff =/
