I have finally got my FreeAgent Pro 1Tb Drive running and stayng running with the eSata connection straight to my motherboard. However, I will not handle backup operations.
I have tried the backup software that comes with the drive but it would always fail. I have then removed that software and use Vista's back-up operations (which I seem to like better, anyway) but it starts, I hear clicks from the drive, the computer temporarily freezes for a few seconds then eventually quits (and message that the device could not be found or was not ready or something).
What is wrong with this piece of machinery??????
OS: MS Vista Ultimate.
Connection: eSata
All I know is that this drive has been a headache since i first bought. I have a smaller 320Gb Seagate which has been a dream. I backed up fine, is dependable, and trouble free.

Try connecting it via USB.

Thanks kind of pointless is it ... to have eSata connection and not be able to use it?
I did have to really on the USB connection to set the drive up initially so it would not go to sleep on me and disappear from my system.
