Please see the Common Issues thread at the top of this board for a link to troubleshooting detection problems like this.

Common issues thread is useless for this issue. It only helps if the drive actually connects to your computer. It doesn't even address the beeping issue at all.

The troubleshooter does not address the beep issue, but rather the detection issue.

The trouble shooter doesn't address issues where the drive does not power up properly at all unless your "power supply has LEDs".

Look, if it doesn't power up anymore it's either a problem with the power supply or the drive itself.

If you have another power supply, try it.  Or another drive.

But if not, you'll have to replace one or the other or both....

Re: Free Agent Pro beeps every ten seconds and Windows does not recognize it anymore

Well it does power up but then makes a periodic beep sound and doesn't connect to the computer. Since half a dozen people (at least) have the same issue on this forum, I think directly addressing that issue on the FAQ would be appropriate. The FAQ completely misses this case despite implying it has an answer for it.

And I shouldn't have to "buy another drive" to diagnose my problem. If it is a manufacturing oversight or defect then the last thing I want is two of them!

Re: Free Agent Pro beeps every ten seconds and Windows does not recognize it anymore

I'm with SamCa111 and I'm having the EXACT same problem. The FAQ does not address this issue. Please help. I DO NOT want to have to replace the drive to solve the problem. This thing has worked fine for 6 months and then all of a sudden one day all it does is beep with the yellow power strip on the top all lit up. Nothing changed. No new software, nothing. I 've tried it on 3 different PCs since the issue started and it is not recognized on any of them.

The same problem - you  mean the drive is not detecting on multiple PCs?

Yeah, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world have that problem every year.  When drives die, they stop being detected.

Sorry, if you've tried all that stuff, it looks like the drive is dead. I can only suggest replacement

Well for a brand new drive I expect better reliability than that. Or resilience. I want to know how to tell what has died on it. "It must be dead" is simply not good enough.
