Free agent go: suddenly slow and crashes explorer.exe

A 300gb freeagent go external hard drive suddenly stopped working.

It passed from working fine to takes a lot of time to load on windows 7 (if its recognized) and even if it loads, it crashes explorer.exe.

The information is still in the external drive, it seems it is not damaged, but because it takes so much time to load and constantly crashes explorer.exe, get access to the info is almost impossible.

It may not be relevant but the problem happened after used an antivirus (kaspersky) on it, because it had a virus.

The virus was removed but this new problem appeared.

Before there was no problem.

In a situation such as this one where a virus was removed but now the drive doesn't work properly it's best to reformat the drive.

Do you have a backup of all the data that was stored on the drive? If you don't, create one, then follow these instructions for formatting the drive:

Re: Free agent go: suddenly slow and crashes explorer.exe

Thanks for answer.

Is there any way to rescue the information of the external hard drive?

It takes a lot of time to even recognize it and constantly crashes the explorer.exe while trying to access the info.

You might be able to rescue your data by using data recovery software. You can find free versions online, or use Seagate's:
