FreeAgent 500 GB External Drive Backup with Errors

I've had my 500 GB external drive for less than a year, backup regularly each day, but as of a couple of weeks ago I can't get the icon to display green after the backup.  Each time it now says it has backup up with errors.  What does this mean?

Re: FreeAgent 500 GB External Drive Backup with Errors

When I click the red icon in the tray there is an erro message that flashes by that states "No external hard drives were found. Check the connection on the external hard drive and make sure the power is on." Then I get the settings screen which states I have 351.5 GB of free space left. I have power and the connection is working. I am able to backup my Quicken manually and able to confirm it on the external hard drive. I have the drive set to automatically backup at 3:00 am. Since about May 13th this problem has showed up. I get an error stating that not all files were backed up. Then it list the files. If this was secure I would try to send a copy but there is not enough room here for the files. I hope this helps.

Re: FreeAgent 500 GB External Drive Backup with Errors

Alan,

I tried link one and it did not work still the same problem.

I tried link two and it helped sort of did not solve the problem.

I then went to Seagate Manager and checked everything in the C drive. This solved the problem. I then went back and unchecked everything I did not want to save. During the night everything ran smoothly and I had no problems.

Thanks for your help.

FreeAgent 500 GB External Drive unable to modify

I bought this to save files on, but they end up read only, and it won't let me save new files on it. I keep getting the message "unable to modify". Am I not able to use this to save files? Can I only save once and not add documents?
