I bought the external drive while I had a Dell Inspiron notebook, my husband had a Dell XP notebook, and my kids had a basic desktop. All running Windows Vista. Drive never had any problems and was used to back-up all three. My notebook died, so replaced it with a Dell XP running Windows 7. Shortly after recieving the new laptop, I used the FreeAgent to transfer all my files to the new computer - no problem with hook-up and copying files.
Fast forward a couple months, have not used the FreeAgent at all in the meantime. When I try to hook it up to my laptop, it is not recognized. Does not show up in My Computer, Device Manager, or Disk Management. But it still works fine on my husbands laptop (running Windows Vista).
What do I do? I've tried both USB ports on my notebook, neither works for the drive. But they work fine when I use them with my speakers. Help, please!
