I just purchsed a Seagate FreeAgent Desk 500MB External hard drive. The drive is connected, software installed but when I go to configure the auto back up. It does not detect the network drives. There is one network drive that I would like to configure for auto back up. Why does it not detect it and how can I fix it.
I am using Windows XP.

As the Great Wizard says: "No one gets to backup a network drive. No one, no how."
Try to backup another users folder.. won't happen either.
The software is written to only backup your personal drive and only PC drive letters.
Use different software. This drive is just another USB external to your PC.
I use Freebyte: free, simple interface, will backup anything you point it too (just create the backup folder first), will show you any errors after the backup. Or try Comodo: free, fancier, timed backups. Either will run with their software installed. Plus their software will give you "histories" and unusable duplicates.
I use Freebyte and make "profiles" for each day. Mon, tue, wed.etc.
Then, if a student messes up a file.. I can go back to a day it worked Hopefully less then a week as my system overwrites after a week.
