Hello, I just bought a 500 GB FreeAgent Desk. I am using Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1 as my OS. I read the forums here and saw all the people complaining about software compatibility and support so I felt the need to come in and comment. This drive and all its features including the Seagate Manager software work perfectly fine on Vista 64-bit. If you install the old software then try to update it won't work saying it's for 32-bit OSes only. And, Seagate's website says it's for 32-bit only, which it should be more clear on. Because you CAN download the latest version of the software online, and it will install and work properly on 64-bit Vista. So, if you're reading these forums and are scared to purchase this product for 64-bit Vista, DON'T BE. It works just fine and I'm very satisified with it.
Most of you saying it doesn't work here are using XP x64 and Linux. Frankly XP x64 has never been a very good OS. Yes, Seagate should still support it, but I don't know why so many of you use it. If you want 64-bit Vista is going to give a much better experience. And yes, Seagate should support Linux too, it's too bad they don't. But for all the VISTA 64-bit users out there, which I imagine is the majority of 64-bit users, this product and software works great and you should definitely get it.

I downloaded the application for free agent and still get the 32 bit message. I tried to activate the program but it
will not install. PLEASE share the link you used.

I have a FreeAgent Desk 1TB and my Vista x64 doesn't recognized it. It says "USB Device not recognized". I installed Seagate Manager which seems to work fine.

I've been trying everything to find the latest software that will work on my two 1.5 TB Free Agent external drives after my tech changed my computer to 64-bit.
I thought your link would finally work, but it doesn't. When I go to that address it gives me an "Invalid Document" error message.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE direct me to a website that works that will enable me to USE these drives!
