FreeAgent Desktop Backup Software

The original FreeAgent Desktop drives did not come with any backup software, but Seagate has released a backup software. If your drive didn't come with any software loaded on it, or no longer has it you can download it from here:

FreeAgent Desktop Software

It includes the FreeAgent Tools, which allows you to change the sleep settings among other things. The backup software will backup your files, like the contents of "My Documents" and "My Pictures". It is available for Windows XP, Vista, and Mac OS X 10.4 (no Leopard yet).

Re: FreeAgent Desktop Backup Software

You can't download it anymore, you have to email support directly to get a "special" link to get it. Why is that?

Re: FreeAgent Desktop Backup Software

Sorry about that, that particular download webpage had a problem and reverted to an earlier version.

Please try the link again - it should have the download available right there.

If not - Windows - http://www.seagate.com/support/freeagent/1_5/FreeAgent-DT-WW.exe   & Mac -  http://www.seagate.com/support/freeagent/1_5/FreeAgent-DT-WW.zip

And mixalis, the drivers are included in Windows or Mac.  That's actually the wrong question to ask - see here.

Re: FreeAgent Desktop Backup Software

mixalis,

As I said, the drivers are included in Windows Vista.  There is no "driver download", but there are certain problem symptoms that could lead someone to think they need to download drivers.

Please start a new thread describing the symptoms you are experiencing, and don't forget the model number of the drive, a description of your PC, and your operating system and such.

Thanks!
