FreeAgent tools non-detect

I have a 1TB FreeAgent Pro that shows up on my computer and in the drive manager, but FreeAgent Tools reports that "No FreeAgent drive have been found. Please make sure a FreeAgent drive is on an properly connected to your computer". How do I get the FreeAgent software to recognise it?

I would try uninstall the program, delete the folder from Program Files, reboot, then reinstall.

I forgot to mention that the problem was only with e-sata. I'm using firewire now and it works great. I tried reinstalling the software, rebooting my computer, and reformatting the drive but it just wont work with e-sata.

Re: FreeAgent tools non-detect

I had the same problem.  As far as I can tell, if you need to use the tools, the software only works under USB.

I have to say that it seems shortsighted to ignore eSATA users, but then I guess that USB is the most popular connection.

It would perhaps have been useful if a readme file disclosed what does or does not work under eSATA.

I believe you will also find that sleep will work under eSATA but wakeup doesn't and has a tendency to lock up WinXP, making the sleep function annoyingly unuseable.
