Is OK to use this external hard drive in the horizontal plane, as I have limited space on the bench, but could place the drive on top of the computer case, or is this a big no no, thanks for any responses, regards, N1993L.

The only thing I would worry about putting it on top of the pc is it falling off.
If it is secure there then go for it.
Backup = Having data in more than one place.
He who laughs last ....... Probably had a backup
