Under Windows, does the Power Management feature in the software (which enables the drive to be powered down after a predetermined period of time) work when the drive is connected via eSata, or does this feature only work when the drive is connected via USB?
Probably doesn't work in esata, but you can try it.
In the Device Manager, with everything connected, double-click on anything related to esata and in the properties window, hopefully there will be a "power management" thing or something like that. So, try it that way.
