I/O Device Error

I have the 250 gig external HD, and after I have it plugged in for a while, I can't go into any of the folders/use any of the files because of an I/O Device Error.

Help please?

I had this problem for months... and good thing I was so busy during the past few months, and just now i decided to find a way on how to fix my FreeAgent 250GB External HDD...

came across to this one:  http://arewold.wordpress.com/2007/08/27/having-problems-with-the-seagate-freeagent-500-gb-external-disk-drive

this should fix the problem (according to them). i will give update soon when i got back at home and tried it.

PS:
How does this thing managed to pass in the so-called QA of this thing? or rather, do they even have 1?
and their answer for this problem is they are referring to the COSTUMER'S PC.. they can't even take the blame on their side.

Re: I/O Device Error [UPDATE]

ok after removing the light thing connection, i still feel the heat from my free agent, BUT, it fixes the problem on write delay. i did a check disk (until phase 5), it works fine, i did a simultaneous copy from A->B and B->A (assuming B is my Free Agent). i did it for 20GB copy from both side at the same time. it works fine. i did the test right after the check disk, so the disk is already too hot by that time (i did not put any ventilation in it to further test it's capability).

in summary, it works pretty well...
