hello all
So I have a Seagate 1tb external hard drive. It recently come up with an I/O error. The thing is that I can see all of my documents are still on my external, but none of files will open up. I've been searching on the internet like crazy for answers but can't find anything. I have around 400 gig of files (photos, documents and music). My main concern is getting family photos and important word documents off there. Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

Try to boot the computer using an imaging software like Acronis True Image, try to see if you can create an image of the troubled drive into another drive.
If you can, then you can use the TrueImage explorer to retrieve any file you need.

Right click My Computer icon on desk and select manage, then disk management then initilise the drive if it's not already and give it a drive letter, should show up then.
