If I delete something off my computer, does it get deleted from my Seagate Freeagent HD?

Just bought a 500GB Freeagent and don't quite understand how it works.  When it does a backup to my laptop, does it "sync" with it like a Palm Pilot would, or does the Freeagent store EVERYTHING -- even if I've deleted it from my laptop?  Reason I ask is that I'd like to remove several music and video files from my laptop and store them on the Freeagent so I can move them back over whenever I want.  Thanks.

The BACKUP program does not... any files removed from a folder you backup is not removed from the external.

If you use the SYNC program.  Then it does make both folders the same, removing and adding from each so they match.

I would not keep an only copy of data on an external.
