I can't imagine that at a minimum Linux wouldn't recognize the drive ( any one of them that is Windows compatible anyway) as an added hard drive, so one should be able to do the old drag n drop routine. 
I had hoped someone could give me some good intel on programs to use for semi automated backups .
I know I can go *virtual* and just have a windows version running the software in a little window on the DT. Tho that seems like a bigger hassle than just using a drag n drop approach.
