Re: My Seagate Desktop 1tb is humming and wont be read for my computer

I talked to the data recovery section today, and it goes as high as $2900.  From what I understood from them, they really aren't Seagate, but it may be possible to get Seagate to pay for the data recovery. (But I wouldn't hold my breath).

Wow.  But still...Even if it was free, no stranger is seeing my personal data.

You can, though I question the promptness or favorableness of their response.  But for most of us, it's not the drive thats the problem, but the data on it.  I could care less about getting a new drive, and with the lack of support, why would I get another seagate?

[ Edited ]

I agree, not only am I not trusting seagate with my personal data I refuse to pay for them to retrieve it. I too dont want another seagate!!! I just want all my songs, movies, photos, programs - LIFE back. Who do we talk too? What can we do? Do the morons in the head office just choose to ignore what is obviously a damaging problem for seagate - unhappy customers! and many of us. Am starting to wonder maybe the company is run by a robot and not a very clever one at that. My stupid lil black box was only a few months old when it crashed, wasnt kicked, wet, dropped, left outside in the cold or mistreated in anyway. If anything I treated it like it had my life on it - oh thats right it does. Until someone can come up with a reasonable solution to all our problems than I will and have make it my mission to inform friends, family, humans not to buy or trust seagate. If I lived near a seagate company I would be picketing outside right now.....I do have a life but unfortuntly its on the stupid black box.

Come on seagate get your stuff together

Re: My Seagate Desktop 1tb is humming and wont be read for my computer

Reading these replies is not making me feel better. Mine worked last night. I wanted to check on some files tonight and it hummed but wasn't read. I hvae about $2000 worth of embroidery files saved to the 1TB drive. My dad has a couple of computer gurus that I'm praying canretrieve my info. Seagate has seen the last of my money. I'll call Monday to see if they can help. If they give me advice that works, I'll repost. If my dad's guys can help, I'l let y'all know. Misey definitely doesn't love company.

Re: My Seagate Desktop 1tb is humming and wont be read for my computer

Hi fellow miserable seagate owners...so I agree with what all of you haev said. I am so frustrated I could cry. I just did what tech support told me and checked to see if my drive would run via serial ATA and of course it doesn't...which means next stop data recovery. I just don't think I should pay for it. They bill their product as a DATA STORAGE SOLUTION...well I stored my data and now I can't access it. They need to get it off.  I am looking into small claims court next if they don't pay for the recovery.  I would love to hear if the other poster has any luck with the computer gurus.
