Need to reformat Free Agent Go 320 GB that was previously used on a DishNetwork DVR

I tried to use the Free Agent Go as the external drive on a DishNetwork DVR, but since it didn't have an external power source - it wasn't working correctly.

How to I go about reformatting it to use on my Windows 7 computer?

It does NOT show up when I plug it in - but it does light up.

It DOES show up when I go to Computer Management and select Disk Drives.

Thanks for any input!

Yes, you'll need to format the drive for Windows. Here are the instructions for performing this task:

The option to reformat is not available.  The only option available on the menu is "delete volume" and "help"

This hard drive had been formatted by the DVR (Dish Network).

It has been split into two partitions.

It is the second and third lines on the screen shot below.

I downloaded Seagate DiscWizard and was able to reformat and get the drive running.

Thanks for your input - it was appreciated!

I'm glad to hear that you were able to reformat the drive with the DiscWizard and that all is well again   :smileyhappy:
