Please help with backup issue with freeagent go 500gb

I just purchase the freeagent go 500gb and when I select the folders to backup and select backup now, it says it backed up. However, when checking the drive none of the folders appear. Also, when i check the backup log, it tells me no backup logs are found. This is driving me crazy. Please help.
