Problem backing up files not within folders in Documents with Seagate Manager software

I am using the Seagate manager software for my Freeagent Go external HD and I have a puzzling question.  The backup software and sync tool works without any problems and dutifully backs up at 8pm every night.  My puzzle is this - I am using Windows 7 and one of the folders I want to back up is "Documents".  In Documents I have a lot of folders plus a quite a few Word and PDF docs not in any particular folder but just sitting in "Documents".  Although the Seagate software backs up "Documents" it only backs up the folders and not the Word and PDF docs in Documents.  The only way I can get the software to back up these Word and PDF docs is to put them in a folder within Documents - why is that?  It's most annoying as I don't want these disparate files allied to any particular folder only "Documents"

I thing your only choice is place the files in a folder you don't want to create.  Name it homeless, misc, root.... It is probably related how Seagate access the My Documents  folder which is also a Windows issue.  You can also try third party software such as Syncback.

Re: Problem backing up files not within folders in Documents with Seagate Manager software

Hi everrest - as I indicated in the original message creating a folder is exactly what I have done, simply called it Docs, so I now have a folder called Docs within Documents - defeats the object somewhat though don't you think?  It's not just the Documents folder though, it applies to any folder, if jpeg Word or any other type of documents aren't contained within a folder then the Seagate Backup Manager cannot see them.  I was thinking of giving something like Memeo a try as you can use it for 30 days - I think this application has a pretty good reputation.
