My external drive was working well until this evening. I came back home, started my laptop and realized that my external drive isn't working. It starts, clicks, turns off and clicks, and then again start, click, turn off, click...
No light appears on the panel.
I browsed through the forum but didn't find any relevant answer.
Please advise me on what to do with my drive. I was just about to back up my 60000 photos and now cannot do anything.
Thanks!

Hello:
Please try our external drive troubleshooter - http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/troublesh
If the troubleshooter doesn't resolve your problem, could you please post the report from Microsoft's UVCView utility?
http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/USB_IDs/UVCView.x
Thanks!

Hello,
thanks for the response, but neither the troubleshooter nor the UVCView helped. The drive behaves as described above an it is still not being recognized by my laptop, there is no reaction of USB port.
What can be the next step to make it work?
Thanks for any new ideas!

I still haven't found a reliable solution to make it work. Please help!

It sounds like you have the exact same problem that I have. I posted it in a thread here several days ago...and so far nobody has any ideas for me either. If you happen to find a solution, please let me know. I really hate to lose all my data on this disk!

Still haven't found anything. One of my friends told me, I should try to run the disk with another chipset. As soon as I get hold of one and try it, I will let you know.
One of the best ideas to preserve the data is not to buy 1TB disks
Do you know of any 1TB disks which are really reliable?
I think, smaller capacities are much better.
