I have a FreeAgent Go 250GB which I have been using for over two and a half years for daily backups of my laptop (Windows 7 OS).
Recently, whenever I start my laptop I got an error message on start-up as following:
stxmenumgr.exe – Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000006). Click OK to close the application.
After understanding it relates to Seagate Manager (and realizing the backup hasn't worked for the past couple of weeks), I tried to uninstall and re-install the software, however, the problem persists.
I searched the forum for similar problems - I made sure that Seagate folders are deleted both under Program Files and ProgramData before trying to re-install but to no avail.
I also tried installing Seagate Manager SW downloaded from website, rather than then one on the drive itself, but when I try to install that version I get another error message during installation:
Feature transfer error
Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation.
Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
I would appreciate any help with re-installing the SW and re-activating my FreeAgent Go drive.

Those errors that you are receiving refer to issues with the Windows Operating System. Your best bet would be to contact Microsoft to resolve the errors. Here is a little information on the Windows Installer error 1603:
Error 1603 occurs if any one of the following conditions is true:
• The folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to is encrypted.
• The drive that contains the folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to is accessed as a substitute drive.
• The SYSTEM account does not have Full Control permissions on the folder that you are trying to install the Windows Installer package to.
You notice the error message because the Windows Installer service uses the SYSTEM account to install software.
