Darroth,
I assume you're using USB connection. Is it going through the normal USB found new hardware routine? It may be that your USB ports are below par.
If using a port on the front of a PC, they can be a bit troublesome. Use a rear one if you can.
It should just connect and work like any USB device.
Short answer: try it on someone else's PC and see what happens.

Hi,
I have the same product and i have the exact same problem. I tried your advice but it's the
other way around because i plugged the usb cable at the back of my pc on the first time i
used it and it worked then after a few days it stopped detecting my free agent drive, i also
tried it in a different pc and i got the same result and i also tried using a different
cable and still negative.
Kindly help me on this its birthday gift for me..
