Seagate Free Agent Desk 500GB, P/N 9ZC2A3-500 not seen as drive on XP SP3 computer (not mine). Seagate Manager does not see it either. Disk sounds like it spins up normally. Seagate Manager log says it has not backed up since January, "Destination is not accessible". Tried it on 2 win7 computers, still cannot see it as a drive. win7 device manager sees it under disk drives as Seagate FA GoFlex Desk USB device.
Disk 1
type basic
status online
partition style MBR
Capacity 1907728MB
unallocated space 1MB
reserved space 0
1907728MB is just a little more than 500GB.
Any solutions or should I take this drive to the skeet shooting range the next time I go?

Check to see if the drive is being listed under Disk Management, if it is, do a reformat on it.
Then go to seagate manager, DELETE the backup plan (and any other backup plans that may be listed there) and setup a new one. Run a new backup...
Lemme know how that works...
And props for liking skeet...but don't take the drive to the range with ya just yet.

I need to pay attention a little better. The Seagate FA GoFlex Desk USB device is my 2TB drive, duh. I thought it was unplugged. So Windows doesnt see it anywhere, not in Disk Management, Device Manager or as a drive. I think that doesnt leave a whole lot left to try other than "pull!"

Thats great. When I was mad at the phone co years ago, I did that to the phone. Very satisfying. I imagine I will feel the same with this drive.
